Behind the veil of eyes, there awaits a spark of connection.
When these dichromatic eyes look into yours, a silent conversation unfolds between the two souls: one, human and other, a dog.
So, what exactly do those eyes wish to say?
Humans and dogs share a history of companionship since ancient times. A symbiotic relation has evolved throughout the years between them which led dogs to become domestic pets, a trust-worthy friend of human. However, not all dogs are lucky enough to become friends with humans. These are the street dogs who do not get a friendly pat from humans rather they face mistreatment. In the culture of many Asian countries, most street dogs are considered as objects rather living beings. Their lives are filled with challenges, from the struggle for survival to security. It is hard for the street dogs to find proper nutritional foods, hence, suffers from malnutrition and sickness. Besides, different parasites cause fatal diseases as street dogs are very vulnerable. This could eventually lead them to death as they do not have access to proper healthcare. Moreover, they do not have a home, a safe place to return to each day. The streets are their only home. But the streets are not safe for them either. All of these together challenges their healthy existence.
On top of that, treating them as pests makes it even worse. But why do humans treat the street dogs this way? What harm do they do to humans? Why do humans find it intolerable to have them around on streets? What drives an individual to pour boiling water on them? What motivates humans to beat them and break their bones? What gives the best living creature the right to turn a street dog’s live into a living hell? Do they deserve such cruelty? Is birth their eternal sin?
NO! Absolutely not.
All they want is to live
a good life, free from the fear of humans. Humans fear the ancestors of dogs,
the wolf, whose instinct of tearing apart a human body runs deep into the blood
of every wolf kin.
Over time, this dangerous carnivore has evolved into loyal and gentle souls. Yet,
some humans play with the lives of these innocent souls. Human, the best
creature of all living beings, mistreating another living being turns out to be
the real dangerous animal who forgot humanity.
For the sake of humanity,
let’s work to open a door for the journey of street dogs towards their happiness and
well-being by providing proper food, shelter and security.

I urge you, just for once, to look deeply into the eyes of street dogs. Do they not enchant yours? Those enchanting pair of eyes craves nothing but care, well-being and perhaps, a little gentle pat on their head.
