February announces the arrival of the Ekushey Book Fair which holds a special place in my heart, representing the spirit of linguistic freedom and cultural pride.The Ekushey Book Fair, also known as the Amar Ekushe Grantha Mela, is a unique cultural event which takes place for the whole month of February in Dhaka. I feel really happy and excited when february comes because it means the Ekushey Book Fair is near and I can't wait to go there and explore new books.It's a dream place for every book lovers cause we can discover new books and buy the latest publications. Moreover, it provides a opportunity to meet and interact with our favourite authors.Every year, I ensure to visit the Ekushey Book Fair which is arranged by Bangla Academy.




It's not just a venue for buying and selling books,it's a cultural festival which stands as a tribute to the martyrs of the Language Movement of February,1952. Usually, the fair continues from 1 to 28 February and it also known as Amor Ekushey Boi Mela. The last time I visited the Ekushey Book Fair was on February 15, 2024 and it was crowded.I visited different types of book stalls and found various types of books like Bengali literature, poetry, novels, science fiction, political analysis, history, and children's literature etc. Finally, I purchased two science fiction books from Ononna Prokashony, authored by Jafor Iqbal. Additionally, I discovered a Rabindranath Tagore and Bangabandhu corner section at the Boi Mela.I also bought a novel titled 'Ma’ written by Anisul Haque.And also met with him and got his autograph.



Besides books, I found stalls selling traditional Bengali handicrafts and variety of food stalls offering traditional Bengali snacks.I noticed a children's corner with children’s books and educational toys.When I went there, I actually did not find any event being held.But sometimes their helds variety of cultural events to express our bengali culture and history.In addition, the Ekushey Book Fair includes cultural programs, seminars, and discussions that celebrate Bengali language and culture.Not only Bangladeshis attend the Ekushey Book Fair, but foreigners also come to explore the event.It's not only a book fair, it also our cultural festival. 





The Ekushey Book Fair is the heart of every Bengalis because it allows us to explore books and culture. Moreover,The Ekushey Book Fair is celebration of language, culture and history. For students and young readers, the fair is an educational experience. So,I encourage readers to explore the Ekushey Book fair to increase their knowledge.For Bengalis, the Ekushey Book Fair is a symbol of unity and pride.Last of all, It's a place where new books are launched every day.And people of all ages come together here,making it a symbol of national pride and cultural identity cause it's a cultural and emotional cornerstone for Bengalis. It's really a paradise for all book lovers.
