-Being a Plant Mom

No one ever plans on loving plants. It grows on people the more they spend time exploring this hobby. It’s a fulfilling and fun hobby that brings you closer to mother nature. Living in a concrete-made city becomes bearable with a little touch of life and nature in one corner of your home. I think it’s a great way to brighten up the sad brick box we live in.

My first plant
Since I was confused about how to start this blog, I thought I would start by sharing how I got interested in this hobby in the first place. I have never been able to stick to one hobby for long but this was something different. It all began with a single succulent that had been gifted to me. At first, I was trying to keep it alive somehow and grew fond of it. Soon more plants started to add up to my little garden. What started as a mere aesthetic interest became a daily form of therapy. Regular watering, weeding, nurturing, and caring for them gave me a sense of calm and accomplishment. The more I invested my time in gardening the more I realized that there is more to this hobby than just aesthetics.  I got my way around plants through trial and error (mostly error). I remember the time I watered my plants too much and they died on me.

My first plant now
Being a plant mom is not just about caring for and nurturing your houseplants rather it also teaches  discipline and dedication. It puts some responsibilities on your shoulders. Being around plants after a tired, hectic day offers mental peace and clarity. When I see flowers blooming on my plants, it makes my hobby seem meaningful. Engaging in gardening fills the mind with hope and optimism. It can be a bit demotivating when you look after them and still they wilt away. But keeping patience is a must when you are aspiring to be a plant mom!

Starting out with a low-maintenance houseplant that would require minimum attention was the right thing to do for the lazy and impatient person that I am. Some of the most forgiving houseplants are Pothos, Aloe Vera, and snake plants  which are perfect for beginners. With time they learn to grow more patient towards their plants and start taking care of them religiously. Gardening is full of excitement and adventure. Will the plant survive? Am I overwatering the plant? Am I taking proper care? Being observant is the only way to find answers to these questions. There's nothing quite like the feeling of growing your own piece of nature!
